[1] Darren Millar: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to today’s meeting of the Public Accounts Committee. I remind everyone that the National Assembly for Wales is a bilingual institution and people can contribute to the meeting in either English or Welsh, as they see fit. There are headsets available for translation and sound amplification purposes. I encourage everyone to switch off their mobile phones and other electronic devices, as these can interfere with the sound equipment. In the event of an emergency, we should follow the ushers, who will guide us to the nearest appropriate exit.
[2] I have not received any apologies for today’s meeting, so we will go straight into item 2 on our agenda.

[3] Darren Millar: We have a number of papers to note. We have a response from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants to our consultation on the Public Audit (Wales) Bill. We had to seek this response and prompt the ACCA to give it, as it helps to supplement our evidence. We have also had a response from the Welsh Government on the Welsh housing quality standard and the implementation of that in terms of our report. We have had some correspondence from the Minister for Finance regarding the Public Audit (Wales) Bill. This is further to the evidence session that we had with Jane Hutt last week. We have also had some correspondence from the Environment and Sustainability Committee, which did a short report on coastal protection. We have also had some correspondence from the Auditor General for Wales further to our meeting, on his estimates, which we will go on to discuss in a few moments.

[4] May I take this opportunity to welcome Jocelyn Davies to the committee? It is a delight to have Jocelyn here. She was a very effective Member of the public accounts and audit committees in previous Assemblies, so welcome to you, Jocelyn. Also, I think we would all like to put on record our thanks to Lindsay Whittle for his contribution while he was a member of this committee. With that, we will move on.
